The ultimate mid to long range cruiser that holds the cameras at the same angle. Adjust from 0-35° without tools and in seconds. One of the lowest GoPro mounts without sacrificing a comfortable FPV camera angle.
The FlatCat7 (FC7) exists because I was looking for a solution to the ‘Captain’s chair’ mount (FPV cam over GoPro); I loved the way the lowered GoPro recorded, but I wasn’t a fan of how difficult it was to land. Yes, you can solve this issue by lowering your camera tilt and using a wider lens, but ultimately you’re compromising because you are no longer flying the angle of the GoPro. To mitigate this compromise, we set the fpv cam to the side of the GoPro lens to prevent the need to fly a different angle than the GoPro, and keeping the fpv cam closer to the ground giving a more familiar view and thus making it easier to land. The mount is able to change between 0 and 35° without tools while still being strong enough to hold the chosen angles in most crash situations. The tilting camera mount coupled with the near-horizontal front arms keeps the props out of view for all camera tilts even when recording in SuperView. The arms are 6mm, use the same hole pattern as the
SOURCE ONE, and are braced in the center with TPU to reduce vibrations making it to the stack and add overall rigidity to the frame. The intent of using the same mounting pattern as the
SOURCE ONE is to provide consumers a convenient and cheap option when it comes to getting replacements should they need it rather than having to hunt down a proprietary arm. This was not an attempt to profit off someone else’s work and In order to prove this, we are adding our cat arm to the GitHub repository as an apology to the community. You can find the FC7 arm files
here Inside, there are 2, 30x30 mounting positions with the forward one also accepting a 20x20 with m3 holes. Behind the second stack mount is an extra space for miscellaneous hardware like beepers, receivers, and regulators. Rear of that is a GPS & SMA Platypus tail. The top plate can easily accommodate a 3000mah Lipo and has three toilet tank battery strap cutouts. The center brace has a cutout allowing for underslung battery mounting in case the top deck isn’t enough. Dry weight of the frame with hardware ~215g, with TPU accessories ~270g.
